Raytheon Solipsys Named One of the Best Places to Work in Baltimore for 2010

For the second year in a row, Raytheon Solipsys was named as one of the 20 Best Places to Work in the Baltimore metro area by Baltimore Magazine, the oldest city magazine in America.

“We are once again honored to be selected among such prestigious company,” says Mark Trenor, President, Raytheon Solipsys. “We have tremendous pride in what we do here, and we never forget that we’re supporting our nation’s security and deployed forces around the world. That spirit translates to how we conduct ourselves every day, and it’s a pleasure to come to work in an environment where people care so much about what we do and each other.”

The Road to Selection

To be considered, employers filled out a detailed questionnaire, which sought information about 401(k) programs, health benefits, diversity initiatives, career development offerings, maternity and parental leave, and much more. The magazine worked to end up with a mix of large and small companies from a variety of industries. As always, companies had to be both financially healthy and hiring in the coming year.

This year the article focused on Raytheon Solipsys’ Wii Wednesdays – one of Solipsys’ regularly scheduled employee events, which allows employees to challenge their co-workers in games such as Guitar Hero and Wii bowling while enjoying pizza during their lunch break.

"These people work hard and they play hard," human resources director Robin Goble was quoted in the article. The events offer a chance to wind down, connect with coworkers, and just have fun. And they're a good way for Solipsys to say thanks to its employees, who labor to ensure the company's command and control products perform "without fail."

The article also described the company's 401(k) plan, paid time off between Christmas and New Years, and its great location in a “manicured work and play complex.”

In Good Company

In being named among Baltimore's best, Raytheon Solipsys is once again in good company. Others named included CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, The John Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, spice manufacturer McCormick and Company, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, 2010 Winter Olympics supplier Under Armour, and M&T Bank, among others.

Raytheon Solipsys is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Company. Located in the Maple Lawn campus in Fulton, Maryland, along the I-95 corridor between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., it is part of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems reporting through Global Business Operations. The company specializes in creating and applying its innovative software solutions to command and control, information shared awareness, deep sensor reach, aircraft control, air defense, disaster management, and time-critical decision making.
