Raytheon Solipsys Named One of the Best Places to Work in Baltimore
For Immediate Release
02/16/2009
Raytheon Solipsys was recently named as one of the 25 Best Places to Work in the Baltimore metro area by Baltimore, the oldest city magazine in America.
"It's an honor to be publicly recognized as a great place to work," Robin Goble, Raytheon Solipsys Director of Human Resources and Administration. "But we've known this for a long time. This recognition makes us proud of who we are and what we do. No doubt, it will help attract more good people."
The Road to Selection
"We started our process with a flurry of calls to those in the know: recruiters, business development leaders, community leaders and, of course, employees," said Baltimore writer Christina breda Antoniades. "Then, to be considered, employers filled out our detailed questionnaire, which sought information about 401(k) programs, health benefits, diversity initiatives, career development offerings, maternity and parental leave, and much more."
Also, companies had to be financially healthy and hiring in the coming year, Antoniades said.
"When you ask them what they like about their jobs, (Raytheon) Solipsys employees usually mention two things: each other and making products that make a difference," the Baltimore article said.
The article also described the company's 401(k) plan, vacation policy, health and dental, wellness, tuition reimbursement for undergrad and graduate programs, its nice offices, state-of-the-art labs, and its "Main Street" atmosphere that includes retail shops, restaurants and a fitness facility.
In Good Company
In being named among Baltimore's best, Raytheon Solipsys is in good company. Others named included The John Hopkins Hospital and University, spice manufacturer McCormick and Company, St. Joseph Medical Center, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, investment managers T. Rowe Price Associates, auditor and tax advisor KPMG, specialty materials company W.R. Grace & Co., and Fed Ex, among others.
Raytheon Solipsys is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Company. Located in the Maple Lawn campus in Fulton, Maryland, along the I-95 corridor between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., it is part of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems reporting through Global Business Operations. The company specializes in creating and applying its innovative software solutions to command and control, information shared awareness, deep sensor reach, aircraft control, air defense, disaster management, and time-critical decision making.
