KAUAI, Hawaii (Jan. 8, 2009) – Raytheon Solipsys named the winners of its 9th annual $2000 Kauai Island Scholarship Contest.

This year's theme, 21st Century Technology at Work on Kaua'i, focuses on how technology impacts current work on Kaua'i and how it could create new job opportunities. Four categories of students competed for first, second and third place prizes. The contest was open to all students living on Kaua'i and ran from November 3 to December 3, 2008. Entries were judged by Solipsys employees at the Network Application and Integration Facility in Lihue.

"Congratulations to our scholarship winners," said Mark Trenor, president of Raytheon Solipsys. "It's rewarding to see that so many Kauai students recognize how important technology is to work done on Kaua'i, and we are extremely pleased to be able to provide this opportunity."

The winners are:

Students from grades 1-3 submitted a poster; grades 4-6 a 250-word essay; grades 7-9 a 350-word essay, and grades 10-12 a 500-word essay.

This year students from Kekaha to Kapa'a submitted more than 30 entries, including 19 applications from one school.
