Solipsys Corporation Announces Start of 2011 Kaua`i Island Scholarship Contest

Kauai, Hawaii (Sept. 12, 2011) - Today Raytheon Solipsys announced the start of its annual $2,000 Kauai Island Scholarship Contest. Beginning Tuesday, September 6 to Tuesday, October 25, 2011, elementary, middle and high school students on Kauai have the opportunity to win a cash prize for illustrating or writing about this year's theme. The theme, Energy Independent Kaua`i - Green Initiative, will encourage students to think about how technology could help Kaua`i become energy independent.

Students from first through twelfth grades are eligible to compete - the requirements for each participant's submission depends on their grade level and is detailed in the contest rules linked below. First, second and third place winners in each category will receive cash prizes: $275 for first place, $150 for second and $75 for third. Additionally, the first 100 students to submit their projects will receive an official Kauai Island Scholarship T-Shirt.

Entries may be submitted in person or by U.S. Mail. Entries delivered in person will be accepted Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at either Solipsys location on Kaua'i. Entries submitted by mail must be in the hands of the judges on or before 4:00 p.m., October 25th to be considered. Please call the Solipsys location you plan to visit ahead of time if you enter in person.

Solipsys has two locations, in the West Kauai Technology and Visitor Center at 9565 Kaumuali'i Highway and on the east side at the NAIF at 4485 Pahe'e Street.
